What are we?

Namaskaram everyone,

Everyone one of us, at least once in our life, wanted to have something so badly that we would be ready to do anything to get that. Do you even remember those things now? Even if you do remember, is the intensity with which you want them the same? So, things that make you do anything at some time doesn't even matter to you after you really have them.

Let's go further deep into the topic. Take an example of a small girl. As the girl is born, she comes with nothing. She then have parents. She thinks that they are all she have and would not even want to imagine a life without them. She is happy and doing fine. Some years later she got a sibling. She then started loving him/her and couldn't leave him/her for a moment. She starts to have friends. She would then grow up to be a woman and gets married. She then forgets parents, siblings and friends who were once the most important people at different stages of life. Now, husband is her everything. She keeps doing well and happy. She then delivers a child - the most beautiful child she ever sees, and falls for it. Now, the child is her everything. She refuses to imagine anything beyond the well-being of that child. As the child grows and starts living on its own, the mother starts to slowly loose the intensity with which she used to love the child. She then shifts back to her husband who would take care of her for the rest of the life. This continues till her end.

Let's assume that the girl never had a sibling nor got married and no friends at all. Having a child is out of context altogether. She would then stick on to her parents forever. It means that different things interest us at different times depending upon many factors like age, exposure, social conditions etc.

You would continue to stick onto something unless something else interests us. Take some time and think about this. Newer and better options always interests us. Time until you find a new and better alternative is the only duration till we stick to the existing thing. A better car, a better house, a better way of living are the things we constantly strive for.

Things you think are the most important to you were not even known to you at some point of your life. Say, a spouse, children, a house, car .. you really do not know of these until you meet them. But, they suddenly become the most important things. Preferences keep on changing. But, there is something very fundamental, something that has always been with you within you.

That thing no matter what have stayed with you. and that thing should always be of the highest importance to you. That rare and precious thing is "Your life" itself. You have lived your life without the car or your house or even a partner or children. You existed without them. You will continue to exist even if you lose them.

It's time you realize that the most important thing in this world is nothing but yourself. So it does to everyone else. Things like love and sacrifice always exists and they make you feel that something else is more important to you. But, it is always you who takes the call when the time comes. Realizing that "you" in you is more important before you start to invest your emotions on something else. Because, that is all what you started with and that is all what you end with. Everything else is picked up and will have to be returned.

Make an effort to realize that thing that is always with you. Because not even knowing who you are is a pathetic situation to live in.
